Backdated Payment Requests

  • Claims dated to 03-15, benefit recipients need to request payment immediately
  • Claims dated to 03-22, benefit recipients need to request payment immediately
  • Claims dated to 03-29, benefit recipients need to request payment the week of 4-12

Staggered Access to Unemployment Benefits Portal

The Texas Workforce Commission is asking Texans to use their area code to find their proposed call and access times listed below in an effort to streamline the volume of claims during COVID-19. See below chart for recommended call and access times:      

Suggested Call Time            Area Code of Applicant            
Mon-Wed-Fri 8:00 a.m. - Noon            Area Codes Beginning with 9            
Mon-Wed-Fri 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.            Area Codes Beginning with 3, 4, 5, 6            
Tues-Thurs-Sat  8:00 a.m. - Noon             Area codes Beginning with 7, 8            
Tues-Thurs-Sat 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.            Area codes Beginning with 2

Texans will not be penalized for a delay due to call or user volume. Claims for individuals affected by COVID-19 are eligible to be backdated. Staggering claims will provide help to reduce frustrations for many Texans and provide better access to needed services.

If an individual has been laid off or experienced a reduction in work hours, they should apply for unemployment benefits with the Texas Workforce Commission. Our local offices do not process claims for unemployment, but we do have staff available to assist with setting up a WorkInTexas.com account or job searching.

COVID-19 Update: If you have been laid off or lost wages due to the impact of COVID-19, please contact our Rapid Response Unit at layoff@workforcesystem.org, and include your name and phone number in the email or use the button below to notify us of a layoff and a staff member will contact you.
