Transit Dispatcher

(Abilene)

Primary duties are to answer phone, coordinate dispatching and scheduling activities for CityLink's operators.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete training and development classes as provided by Management/Supervisor.
  • Report for duty promptly in proper uniform and physical condition.
  • Consistent attendance is a requirement for this position. Excessive tardiness will result in discipline action.
  • Be familiar with the streets of Abilene
  • Must be able to perform all duties of a van operator. May serve as a backup relief operator when needed.
  • Controls radio communications in a professional manner providing operators and staff assistance, guidance and instructions. Exemplifies ten-code procedures for radio communications proficiently.
  • Operate a two-way radio system in accordance with established rules and regulations of CityLink and the Federal Communication Commission (FCC).
  • Conducts daily opening and/or closing of bus terminal and monitors drivers checking in/out of vehicle assignments.
  • Monitors and assists paratransit operators with directions, road calls, emergencies, accidents, equipment checks, schedule changes and procedures.
  • Provides prompt and friendly customer service with phone inquiries, schedules, fares, and or other information.
  • Multi-tasking ability required for interaction with radio, phone, customers, drivers, and management personnel.
  • Customer contact requires high levels of interpersonal communication skills.
  • Assists in providing information for ridership reports from operator forms.
  • Must be able to prepare written reports on traffic accidents, bus incidents, passenger information, road damage, etc.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the public and coworkers.
  • Must demonstrate good time management skills and operate independently.
  • Must have general computer skills.
  • Coordinates with vehicle maintenance on vehicle requirements, road calls, and special events.
  • Must be familiar with emergency procedures and contacts.
  • Must work alone, or as part of a team.
  • Some outside working hours may be required for special events or training.
  • Must gain knowledge of the operating rules and regulations of CityLink. Must adhere to company policy.

Pay:

  • $16.00/hour
