Job Summary:
- The Misdemeanor Deputy Clerk I position is a clerical position in the County Clerk’s office, in the Misdemeanor Courts Division.
- As a member of a team, the position is responsible for various responsibilities and duties in support of the Judiciary.
- Primary duties also include customer service at the front counter and by telephone, taking payments and answering questions.
- Collect delinquent fines and court cost, scanning, filing, contacting persons who are delinquent, and entering data into the County’s case management system.
- Duties also include support of the Deputy Clerk II positions responsibilities as necessary.
- The Deputy Clerk I- Misdemeanor operates under the direction of the Chief Deputy and County Clerk.
All applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Qualified applicants will have experience of 1 year or more in general office work and clerical skills demonstrating communication, precision with names and numbers and customer service. Must have legible handwriting. Previous experience in the legal profession, the court system and legal documents will be a plus.
Essential Functions:
- Greets and direct public at your counter and answer the phones
- Takes criminal payments at the counter and through certified payments
- Prepares various documents to include dismissals, warrants, surety checks, cash bond releases, appeals to appellate courts, CJIS data and reports, probation revocation, court cost dockets, jail court costs, DWI school, motion for new trial, non-disclosure and expunctions
- Corrects documents previously scanned and checks other information for accuracy
- Performs duties of Deputy Clerk I in the courtroom as necessary
- Responds to written and telephonic correspondence relating to misdemeanor issues
Starting Salary: $38,260 annually + benefits
