Texas Health and Human Services Commission is looking for a Laboratory Technician II.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collecting, labeling, processing and packaging of specimens appropriately for shipment to the performing lab.
- Scheduling and giving instructions for the collection of specimens, performs limited instrument maintenance.
- Performs computer Data entry of patient demographics, lab test orders, and international Classification of Diseases (ICD-9) codes into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Frequently performs venipunctures as ordered by health care provider, provides courier service.
- Must demonstrate and conform to all safety standards and procedures.
- Must drive a state vehicle and maintain required driver training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled in performing venipunctures.
- Skilled in the operation and maintenance of centrifuges.
- Skill in data entry for the laboratory information system
- Knowledge of specimen requirements and handling.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control measures.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
- Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
Pay: $2,552.00-$3,649.83
