Position Summary : Working under supervision of the Vice President of Finance & Accounting, supports the accounting department by performing clerical tasks, including processing and recording transactions, fielding communications with members and vendors, fact checking, filing, and other duties, as needed.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to: Vice President of Finance & Accounting
Directs: None
Internal Relationships: Vice President of Finance & Accounting, Accounting Department employees and all employees
External Relationships: Members and general public
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities and Skills):
Knowledge
A working knowledge of general accounting and office practices, procedures and relatable skills. Basic math and accounting related skills.
Abilities and Skills
Successful candidates must have:
Ability to communicate effectively with others by telephone and in person. Should be able to promote continuous good member and public relations.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with regards to cooperative information.
Solve problems accurately and finish work in a thorough and timely manner.
Ability to read, understand, interpret and administer company policies, accounting procedures and principles as well as follow instructions.
Oral and written communications skills.
Has and maintains a valid driver's license and is insurable under the standard rate of the current carrier.
Must pass physical exam, work steps, drug and alcohol test initially; drug/controlled substance and alcohol screen test randomly.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Responsible for daily deposit management , which includes maintaining a record of daily cash balances in deposit management account and preparing a daily reconciliation of deposits in transit. Preparing and processing vendor invoices for accounts payable. Data entry and special projects as assigned. Other clerical and administrative tasks as assigned. Regular attendance during normal business hours. Additional functions of the job are to confer with other employees on problems related to the general ledger and to keep abreast of current affairs of the Cooperative in order to communicate the members. Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent with emphasis in office procedures and bookkeeping. Associates in related field preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of associates.
Training and Experience:
This is an entry - level accounting position with associates in related field or previous office experience preferred . O n the job training will be utilized as necessary.
