The Communication Officer receives incoming calls for police and emergency assistance, dispatches necessary personnel and equipment, and monitors ongoing police activity to determine the need for additional resources. The position is full-time and includes full benefits. The job grade is an 11A and salary is $3314.74 a month, paid bi-weekly. Working hours are rotating shifts. Qualifications are high school diploma or GED, valid Texas driver’s license and good communication skills. Additional requirements include basic computer knowledge, keyboard, data entry input and retrieval and filing. Texas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center certification preferred, or be able to obtain certification within one year. 911 call taker certification preferred or be able to obtain within one year and must pass a criminal background check.
