Calling all students and teachers! It is your time to shine!
Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission hosted the inaugural Careers in Action video contest for schools in our 19-county region during fall of 2017. Middle (6th-8th grade) and high school (9th-12th grade) students, with the sponsorship of a teacher from their school, were invited to create videos highlighting Texas's 16 career clusters. Prize money totaling over $17,000 was awarded to teachers for their classrooms!!
About the videos...
Submitted videos were required to be 1-3 minutes in length and highlight one of Texas's 16 career clusters Opens a New Window. . Students could choose to highlight a particular career in their chosen cluster or provide a broad overview of the cluster. Videos also needed to contain the following:
introductory title frame including: campus name, sponsoring teacher's name, career cluster, & entry name
information about career pathways (high school, post-secondary, and employment opportunities)
information about local, regional, and/or state employers...extra points earned for an interview with an employer and/or person in the field of work
essential knowledge, skills, and abilities
listing of people involved in creating the video (credits)
