The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 requires training providers to apply for certification to receive funding to serve individuals who are eligible for WIA services. The Texas Workforce Commission maintains a publicly accessible Statewide List of Certified Training Providers that includes all training programs currently approved by 1 or more local workforce Boards and certified by the Texas Workforce Commission.
Training entities may apply for certification for 1 area or multiple areas of the state through the online system. The proposed training must be considered a demand or targeted occupation for the area. You may view the list of current demand and targeted occupations for West Central.
In addition, the State and Local Boards are required to establish program performance standards for use in reviewing initial training provider applications and in determining eligibility of a training program to receive WIA funds. Local training provider policies also guide this process. Providers may appeal decisions related to the certification of a training program.
